Well, my brother and I are the first to go to university in our family, so there hasn't really been a standard that we've been expected to follow. My father is a lorry driver, one of my older sisters works in design, and no one else in the immediate family works. If I had been expected to pursue a specific type of career, and it was something I didn't want to do, I'd have to be honest that it wasn't how I wanted to live my life.

Low parental expectations are the best! I like the fact that I've been free to plough my own furrow, without my parents being disappointed or whatever.

I've added you 'cos you look nice. Hope that's OK. I'm from London but I moved to Linlithgow seven months ago. My wife is a Scot and she wanted to come back home...

Haha, no worries, I'll add you back :)
I struggled trying to live for my mom and I guess I still do from time to time. She wanted me to be a CNA tho I lost interest with it so I went to college for her and just to see me get thru with it. But I never got hired. I want to be a grade school teacher and ever since a child I've wanted to be an actress (professionally), the latter of which she has never really accepted. But in the end it's what I want and what makes me happy, isn't it?

Oh yeah and you can find me on Facebook at dreamlikeoasis@gmail.com and on MSN at thefunkyencore@live.com :-)
Yep, definitely what makes you happy is the most important thing. If you do become an actress (and I wish you luck with it), even if your mum isn't initially happy, she'll end up seeing how happy it makes you and you being happy hopefully means she will be too.

Cool, I'm on Facebook and MSN as maskenball@live.fr - unfortunately stupid Facebook won't accept that my legal name does spell Alexxandra, and automatically rejects each request I make to spell it correctly, so I'm stuck there as Alexandra. One day, they'll answer my numerous requests to please have it changed!
Thanks! I'm working on getting my license so I can work on achieving more of my dreams. :-) And that is so crazy! You'd think they would. Honestly, I think Alexxandra is a cool way to spell it. It seems so exotic that way!
